The Museum Industriekultur had invited the Osnabrück residents to the "Bergfest" and asked us to be there with an information booth. Of course, we agreed.

Werner, Wilhelm, Thomas, Gerold, and Achim were there. And since the weather forecast for Sunday was getting better and better, we didn't just set up an information booth: We also set up five telescopes - all specially equipped for solar observation.

In bright sunshine, we set up our equipment, information materials, and demonstration models. The "Bergfest" was supposed to begin at 10:00 a.m., but even during the setup phase, starting at 9:00 a.m., we had the first interested visitors. It was a very lively day—both at the telescopes and at the information booth. There was virtually no downtime at either station until the end at 6:00 p.m.

The visitors showed great interest – both in everything that could be observed directly on the sun with the telescopes and also in everything we presented with our models for illustration. In addition, our Sternstunden, which we also presented on this occasion, attracted attentive listeners.

Even though some veiled clouds somewhat impaired the quality of observations with the telescopes late in the afternoon, visitors were impressed by the sunspots and prominences on the sun. These impressions were all the more intense when the scales of the Earth and the sun were vividly demonstrated using the assembled models. A moving model of our solar system was a highlight at the information booth and allowed us to expand visitors' perspectives beyond the sun into space.

The day was exhausting but very successful, with hundreds of visitors.

Here are some snapshots from the festival:

<figure
