What does the Museum of Industrial Culture have to do with astronomy?

The central element of kosmos-os is theSternstunden" which will take place at various locations in and around Osnabrück. Since 2023, this campaign has also taken place once a month in cooperation with the Museum Industriekultur (MIK) on the Vosslinke southwest of Osnabrück's Piesberg. It is particularly dark on this large MIK site, and the view to the south and west is nice and free for observation.

Once a month, the kosmos-os friends meet in the Ideenschmiede in the Haseschacht building of the MIK for mutual exchange or lectures on astronomical topics.

Over time MIK and kosmos-os have grown together to a certain extent and so kosmos-os will present itself in September 2026 with a small exhibition in the think tank. Pictures, astronomical tools and objects are shown here. There is a moon phase simulator and a telescope to marvel at and even a quiz where you can put your own astronomical knowledge to the test. Until the end of September 2026, the already highly interesting visit to the MIK is all the more worthwhile!
